I-FISH Providers
Specific chromosomal aberrations, i.e., 3q gains/7q losses, may precede and herald the development of myelodysplastic syndrome and leukaemia. Interphase fluorescent in situ hybridisation (I-FISH) should be used to screen for such aberrations on both peripheral blood and bone marrow cell samples on FA affected individuals who have not undergone a haematopoietic stem cell transplant (and that may be otherwise missed by conventional cytogenetic analysis). For further information on I-FISH in FA, see Section 6 of the UK FA Standards of Care document.
